Where Ideas Grow

4th Annual Meeting of the ISMRM Iberian Chapter

2-3 July 2024 | i3S, Porto

As Program Chair of the 2024 Annual Meeting, I welcome you with great pleasure to the charming city of Porto, on July 2-3.

Nestled along the scenic Douro River, Porto is renowned for its rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant culture. From the historic Ribeira district to the iconic Dom Luís I Bridge, the city offers a unique blend of tradition and modernity.

The 4th Annual Meeting marks a significant milestone for the Iberian Chapter, with a new Executive Committee. Symbolically, the venue reflects the common ground of our community, as we move forward: functional since 2015, i3S (Institute for Research and Innovation in Health) brings under the same roof three major research institutes in Porto - INEB, IPATIMUP (both founded in 1989), and IBMC (1997) - congregating different disciplines, skills and expertise towards the common goal of designing a healthier future.

To keep our spins aligned, we have prepared an exciting 2-day scientific program. Three plenary lectures will feature leading experts in clinical, preclinical, and computational MRI. In addition, two oral sessions and two poster sessions will showcase the latest research findings in our community, with industry pitches highlighting the latest technological innovations in the field.

As we believe in the importance of networking, there will be ample opportunities to connect during the coffee breaks. This will also be fostered during a special visit to one of Porto's famous wine cellars, with an immersive experience into the world of Port wine production; as well as over dinner, in a typical downtown restaurant where you can taste the local cuisine while enjoying a relaxed atmosphere.

I look forward to meeting you in Porto!

Best regards,

Rui Simões, PhD
