Shakila did her Bachelors in Botany from University of Education, Lahore, Pakistan in 2015. She completed her masters in Genetics from University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan in 2018 with an overall score of 19/20 according to Portuguese grade scale. During her masters, she has been able to publish a research paper titled “β casein Polymorphism in Indigenous and Exotic Cattle Breeds of Pakistan” derived from my thesis research. 

Currently, she is attending the International Doctoral Program in Molecular and Cellular Biotechnology applied to Health Sciences (BiotechHealth) at Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar (Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar). I am working in the research group “Biomolecular Structure and Function” under the supervision of Dr. Sandra Macedo Ribeiro at i3S - Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde, Universidade do Porto. 

With regards to her professional experience, she worked as scientific research intern at Research Bulb in Delhi, India. During that internship, she has been able to publish one research article titled “Clinical Applications and Properties of Calcium Citrate Malate”. Furthermore, she has visited Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Brussels, Belgium for PhasAGE – VIB Training School 5 “Databases and Computational Tools on Phase Separation” from 26-28 February, 2024.
