Alexandra M Lopes obtained her PhD in Biology at the University of Porto in 2006 and developed her research,  in the biology of sex chromosomes and the genetic basis of male infertility, in the Population Genetics Group from 2009 to 2020. She was an invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Sciences from 2011 to 2019. She published 49 articles in peer review international journals with 841 citations and an h index of 15.
