Hands-on course in transgenesis and mutagenesis in zebrafish – 2^nd edition

20-24 May 2024 | i3S, Porto

This hands-on course will focus on the training in genetic manipulation of zebrafish, including techniques for transgenesis and mutagenesis. The participants will be offered theoretical and practical sessions on Tol2 mediated transgenesis, and Crispr-Cas9 mediated genome editing. Microinjection into zebrafish embryos will be covered, as well as previous preparation of RNA or DNA to inject and subsequent screening to identify positive founder fish.

Target audience: The course is designed to PhD students and senior researchers

Course duration: 30 hours

Course language: English or Portuguese (depending on the audience)

Certificate: A certificate of attendance will be assigned to participants who attend all lectures.

Admission criteria: Only applicants holding at least a BSc - Bologna 1st cycle degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Veterinary, Medicine, Pharmacy or similar will be admitted.

DNA and RNA synthesis and purification for zebrafish microinjection;
