PhD Students Association
The Forum of i3S PhD Students (FiPS) is the in-person gathering of PhD Students developing their projects in research groups affiliated with i3S.
The FiPS constitutes a setting for discussion of all issues of concern to PhD students. Its aims include:
(1) the dissemination of relevant information to the students;
(2) the organization and promotion of activities valuable for students’ work;
(3) the creation of working groups addressing specific issues and activities;
(4) the promotion of a sense of community among PhD students in all institutes and laboratories composing i3S, fostering a dynamic research and social environment.
Through elected representatives, the FiPS gives shape to the voice of a large student body composed by more than 250 students from a wide variety of Faculties and PhD Programs, covering all research lines within i3S.
Two PhD students are elected by their peers and advocate for PhD students in academic and administrative matters. The representatives organize and present the issues and topics PhD students wish to discuss with the Board of Directors and other administrative units of i3S. Therefore, the representatives are members of the Executive Committee of i3S and, together with a group of other PhD students, meet informally with the Board of Directors every month.
Several working groups are now running projects ranging from the organization of the Young Scientist Seminars, to the development and implementation of PhD Advisory Committees and the First PhDay at i3S.
New PhD students should contact their representatives to join the FiPS mailing list and receive periodic information about this community.
