i3S researcher on the Board of the ESHG

Leader of the Expression Regulation in Cancer group, Carla Oliveira is the most recent addition to the Executive Committee of the European Society of Human Genetics (ESHG) as the elected Deputy Secretary-General for a 4-year term.

The ESHG is an international non-profit organization whose mission is to promote basic and applied research in human and medical genetics. Working in the field of human genetics for over 20 years already, Carla Oliveira perceives this opportunity to join a management body of the ESHG as a "great privilege".

"I have accepted this challenge because I truste this Society and the people leading it, and because it represents a once in a lifetime opportunity to participate in a changing world in which the words 'genetics' and 'DNA' are associated with all areas, from agriculture to artificial intelligence. My dream is to be part of a future where knowledge and tecnology help prevent genetic disease", she muses.

This another step towards the construction of a stellar career.
