Mónica is a young researcher, who has recently completed her PhD degree in Biomedical sciences at ICBAS University of Porto, focusing on Evolution and Gene Duplication/Loss and Lipid metabolism. Monica has a solid background in Genetics and Molecular Biology, having started off with in Degree in Genetics and Biotechnology followed by Masters in Comparative Molecular Genetics both awarded by the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro. She is now a Post-Doctoral Research fellow in the Population Genetics & Evolution group at IPATIMUP. Her interests include evolution & metabolism and she has authored and published several scientific papers within this scope in international peer reviewed journals.
