Carla Gomes
Junior Researcher

Carla P. Gomes has a PhD in Biomedical Engineering (University of Porto) and the main goal of her thesis was the development of functionalized nanoparticles for targeted and efficient gene delivery to the peripheral nervous system. Afterwards, she worked in a collaborative project entitled "Accelerating progress toward the new era of precision medicine" at iMM (Lisbon), where she was dedicated to the identification of long non-coding RNAs with possible therapeutic roles in aggressive triple negative human breast cancer. Currently, she is a Junior Researcher in the Genetic Dynamics of Cancer Cells Group at i3S and her main focus is to unravel the role of Tregs in cancer immune response. Among her main fields of interest are Oncobiology, Gene Therapy, RNA Biology and Drug Delivery Systems, including Nanomedicine.
