Virginia is a team member of the Research and Innovation Unit - International Funding Programmes of I3S.

Virginia has a Biomedical Scientist degree (2007, CESPU), a Molecular Genetics MsC (2010, University of Minho) and Biomedical Sciences PhD (2016, University of Porto). She got a postdoc fellowship at Centre of Biological Engeneering at University of Minho.

She has more than 10 years of experience in research, with 16 peer-reviewed publications, 3 book chapters and more than 35 communications (poster and oral).

She often teaches in Higher education institutions in health domain.

Since 2017, she has been working as a project manager and an innovation consultant in current Framework Programmes.
