Andreia de Sousa Fernandes completed a PhD in Biochemistry in 2004 by the University Nova Lisboa at Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica and a Licence in Biochemistry in 1999 by the University of Lisboa at Faculdade de Ciências. Her main subject of study is membrane proteins and membrane transport. At this moment she is working on the regulation of prokaryotic K+ channels with João Morais Cabral at the I3S, University of Porto. She published 17 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 1 book chapter.
