In 2008, I completed my degree in Biochemistry from the University from Coimbra, after concluding my senior year research project at ICBAS (University of Porto), under the supervision of Paula Ferreira. Then, I moved to ICVS (University of Minho, Braga) to do my PhD on the cytotoxic action of Mycobacterium ulcerans toxin mycolactone, under the supervision of Jorge Pedrosa and Paula Ludovico. In November 2014, I joined Reto Gassmann's lab at the IBMC to study the mechanisms underlying the function and regulation of the cytoplasmic dynein molecular motor. My research has been focusing on the characterization of conserved domains and motifs involved in the interaction between dynein and its cargo adaptors.
