João Pimenta

João Pimenta has a first degree in Biology (2009) and a Master degree in Forensic Genetics (2011), both by Faculty of Sciences of University of Porto. The master degree, under the supervision of Sandra Martins, was mainly focused on the study of the mutational mechanisms underlying the evolution of (CAG)n repeats in the Androgen Receptor gene. Between 2012 and 2013, João Pimenta was a fellowship researcher in the project "Search for genomic structural variants in azoospermia: a study in the Portuguese population", funded by FCT, under the supervision of Alexandra Lopes. Nowadays, João Pimenta is a PhD student in Biology, at Faculty of Sciences of University of Porto, under the supervision of David Comas and António Amorim. The PhD is focused on the study of the gene flow from North Africa to the Iberian Peninsula through a X-chromosome perspective.
