Training Course Genetics in Family Medicine – 11th edition
April 17th, 2026 | Hybrid event – i3S and Online
The CGPP organizes the 10th edition of the Training Course Genetics in General and Family Medicine.
The aim of this course is to enable healthcare professionals working in primary care to update their knowledge and skills in the field of medical genetics. In the long term we hope to contribute to an improvement in healthcare provided to patients with genetic diseases and awareness of those with potential genetic risks in a family. Thus, invited speakers will address relevant topics in a practical format, based on the presentation of clinical cases and warning signs for referral in Medical Genetics, supported by tools and resources adapted to the daily reality of clinical practice.
In an era in which genetic tests are increasingly present in clinical practice and their usefulness is significantly reinforced, the collection and use of genetic data has resulted in a better understanding of hereditary conditions. In this edition we will revisit basic themes and concepts in Medical Genetics, in the light of the most recent advances in genetic diagnosis and highlight the role of the family doctor in identifying warning signs and referral of affected people or at risk for genetic conditions. Additionally, the last talk is planned on emerging IT tools in the field of clinical genetics and their impact on healthcare management. Finally, there will be opportunities for presenting clinical cases relevant to the approach of genetic and clinical diagnostics, where participating professionals will be able to submit clinical abstracts for discussion by the course's panel of speakers.
The course will be lectured in Portuguese.
Target audience: Specialists and Interns in General and Family Medicine, Doctors and Interns from other specialties and other Healthcare Professionals.
