Where Ideas Grow

First Meeting of the Portuguese Network on Extracellular Vesicles (PNEV)

13-14 September 2021 | i3S, Porto, Portugal

Welcome,

This will be the first meeting of the Portuguese Network on Extracellular Vesicles (PNEV), aiming to bring together researchers and students working in Portugal in the field of Extracellular Vesicles (EVs) in Health and Disease. The meeting, unfortunately, had to be postponed for the past year, due to the pandemic of Covid-19, but we are now in the position to plan it as a face-to-face meeting for September 2021.

It is expected that this meeting, which will be held at i3S in the beautiful city of Porto - Portugal, will help to establish national collaborations in this area of research, promoting scientific and technical advances in this research field. The program will consist of four invited talks, by internationally recognized speakers from various EV societies or associations and by several selected oral presentations. The meeting is organized in four sessions:

I) Methods for EVs isolation and characterization;
II) EVs in infection and immunity;
III) EVs in cancer;
IV) EVs in tissue regeneration and degeneration.

The event will also include a general meeting of the PNEV members, during which future directions of the PNEV will be discussed, together with a debate on how to collaborate with other networks, associations or societies in the field of EVs around the world.  A social program will also be included, to promote interaction between all attendees.

We sincerely hope that this meeting will contribute to promoting outstanding research on EVs in Portugal.

The organizers,
Anabela Cordeiro da Silva, M. Helena Vasconcelos, Susana Santos
(PNEV coordinators)
