Diversity - a challenge for the life and health sciences

We need to talk about diversity and about the lack thereof in research. Who do we study, in which way, who is studying and who has access to the results? This is more than a social concern, diversity in the life and health sciences is essential for research quality. With the workshop Diversidade nas Ciências de Vida e de Saúde, we aim to put the topic on the agenda of the academic discussion in Portugal.
The morning session will be dedicated to biological and biomedical research about and with diversity, and the afternoon session to discussing strategies for promoting diversity in the academic community. The event is organized in collaboration between i3S – Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde e CIBIO – Centro de Investigação em Biodiversidade e Recursos Genéticos. The event will take place at i3S and targets an audience of students, teachers and researchers who are interested in discussing the role of diversity in the Portuguese academic community.
