30 May - 1 June 2022 | Hybrid Event - i3S, Porto, Portugal, and Online

WELCOME

Welcome to the 11th International AMR Slide Seminar Symposium!
The 11th Arkadi M. Rywlin (AMR) slide seminar in anatomic pathology will be held in Porto, Portugal in May/June 2022.
The AMR International Pathology Slide Seminar Club is a non-profit organization created in 1991 to promote and advance the exchange of ideas among academic and clinical pathologists throughout the world in a spirit of cooperation and collegiality. The format of the symposium will be that of an extended slide seminar.
A total of 81 selected cases will be presented and discussed by the faculty. A set of glass slides from the cases will be distributed (to the first 100 registered in-person participants only), and a syllabus will be available online to all participants with a discussion of the cases. Previously to the meeting, cases will also be available on a digital platform (amr-porto2022.org). Participants are encouraged to go through the digital slides and submit their diagnoses. There will be a prize (Modern Surgical Pathology volumes) for the participant with the largest number of correct diagnoses and Honorable Mention Awards for the three participants with the best performance.
The symposium will focus mainly on diagnostic problems and controversies in surgical pathology using a case study format and will be of interest to general surgical pathologists and trainees in pathology.

Please join us at this exciting venue in Porto!

ARKADI M. RYWLIN, M.D.

The Arkadi M. Rywlin Pathology Slide Seminar was founded by Dr. Saul Suster in 1991 to honor the memory of his mentor and teacher, the late Professor Arkadi M. Rywlin (1923– 1987). Professor Rywlin was born in the free city of Danzig and completed his medical training at the University of Geneva, Switzerland.
He immigrated to the United States in 1953 and served as the Director of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the Mount Sinai Medical Center of Greater Miami and as Professor of Pathology at the University of Miami School of Medicine until his untimely death in 1987.
Professor Rywlin attained international recognition for his expertise and numerous publications in the pathology of the bone marrow. He was the author of more than 100 original articles spanning a variety of subjects in pathology and achieved international recognition with the publication of his textbook on Histopathology of the Bone Marrow (Little, Brown & Co., Philadelphia, 1974). Professor Rywlin was an outstanding educator and trained hundreds of residents and fellows. He combined a classical education in pathology with a strictly logical and critical approach to solving problems in pathology. The club was founded to honor the memory of this master of Pathology and to celebrate and promote the spirit of critical thinking that was the legacy of Professor Rywlin to his students.

Venue

The meeting will be held at Mariano Gago Auditorium, i3S – Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde, University of Porto, Porto.
