Ana Isabel Silva
PhD Student

Ana Isabel has a degree in Biochemistry and a master in Neurobiology both from University of Porto. She developed her master thesis titled "Impact of SVCT2 modulation in neurodegeneration: a fly based approach" under the supervision of Carla Lopes and João Relvas. Presently she is a researcher in Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde of University of Porto in Addiction Biology lab coordinated by Teresa Summavielle. Her present project "Psychostimulant-induced neuroinflammation: new insight in the crosstalk between microglia, astrocytes and neurons" addresses the molecular mechanisms by which methamphetamine induces neuroinflammation and how that can contribute to addiction behaviour.
