Speed Networking

These sessions will consist in a combination of speed dating and career networking.

Meet a Fellow

The “Meet a Fellow” session is a social activity where participants will be able to speak, one-on-one or in a group, with professionals working in the Life and Biomedical Sciences fields.
In an informal and dynamic networking environment you can get tips for establishing a successful career in and outside of academia, find out more about alternative careers, how to prepare for a career change and what to expect, how to get work-life balance, and learn from personal experiences on the motivation and “dos and don’ts” to navigate in a particular career path. On the online registration form, attendees can choose the areas of interest so they can talk with professionals on a “one-on-one” basis for 8-10 minutes. Additional schedule details (participant/invited guest match and time slot) will be provided during registration on the first day.

Meet a Company

The “Meet a Company” session is a social activity where participants will be able to speak, one-on-one or in a group, with companies operating in the Life and Biomedical Sciences fields.
In an informal and dynamic networking environment you can get to know companies who employ highly specialized workers, like PhD graduates, learn more about job opportunities in industry, and inquire about the working culture in the private sector and the hiring process.
On the online registration form, attendees can choose the type of companies that they wish to talk to on a “one-on-one” basis for 8-10 minutes. Additional schedule details (participant/company representative match and time slot) will be provided during registration on the first day.

 

Coaching for scientists:
Intelligence and Effectiveness

The purpose of this session is to help the participants to get to know themselves better and to be aware of their strengths and fragilities. This team will help you to find how to better contribute to the company you work for and/ or to enhance your skills to a future company. They help people understand how to keep motivated and therefore take initiative to add value in the best way they can. It is a positive confrontation experience with great results.

 

Build your professional toolkit:
Career Development

In this session we will hear from professionals who are involved in assisting career planning for young scientists and other post-graduates. Professional development is a growing concern in scientific training, as the field tries to deal with an oversupply of post-doctoral scholars.

The participants will have the opportunity to discuss how online platforms can be used for career path development, the contribution/advantages of having specialized career offices integrated within research institutions, and how these organized services can provide programs and soft-skills training to help young graduates align their personal interests with professional opportunities.

 

Speed Talks

The representatives of the invited companies will give a 5 minute talk to present their company core business, areas of activity and the general profile of hired collaborators.
