Manuela França graduated in Medicine in 2002 at the Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas de Abel Salazar (ICBAS) ? University of Porto. She specialized in Radiology, at Centro Hospitalar do Porto, in 2011. She is Hospitalar Assistant of Radiology at Centro Hospitalar do Porto, working on Body Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Computed Tomography. She was Monitor and Invited Assistant of Clinical Anatomy at Faculty of Medicine of University of Porto, from 2003 to 2008. Since 2008, she collaborates in teaching Radiology at Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas de Abel Salazar (ICBAS) ? University of Porto. Since October 2012, she is a PhD student in Medical Sciences at the Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas de Abel Salazar (ICBAS) ? University of Porto. The title of her Thesis is ?MR Imaging Biomarkers in Diffuse Liver Disorders: Quantification of Fat, Water and Iron Deposits?. Her main research interest is to explore novel Magnetic Resonance Imaging Biomarkers in diffuse liver diseases, particularly imaging biomarkers of hepatic iron overload, steatosis and liver fibrosis, collaborating with the Biomedical Imaging Research Group from Hospital La Fe, Valencia, Spain. She collaborates with the Hospital Outpatient Clinic for Hemochromatosis at Centro Hospitalar do Porto, evaluating iron deposition in the liver and other organs, using Magnetic Resonance Imaging, in patients with hemochromatosis and other iron overload disorders.
