Student wins The Company Of Biologists fellowship for Paris internship
André Carvalho was recently honoured with a fellowship from the British foundation “The Company of Biologists.” This award will allow him to complete a five-week internship at the Institut Curie in Paris.

The ALVA and VANTAGE4MB projects, both focused on combating cancer and led by i3S researchers, were honoured with second and third prizes, respectively, in the BIP Acceleration 2025 programme.

i3S researchers help solve sexual assault crimes with novel DNA technology
To contribute to the resolution of sexual assault crimes, the CapCell project was recently granted 4.5 million euros by the Horizon Europe programme. As a partner in this consortium, i3S will receive more than 200,000 euros to analyse and interpret forensic data.

Volunteers sought to study gut microbiome and adolescent risk behaviours
A team from the i3S, led by Joana Ferreira Gomes, seeks to identify these connections to develop prevention strategies that may reduce impulsivity and risk behaviours, and protect the emotional, mental, and physical health of adolescents.
