Sule Canberk
PhD Student

Dr. Canberk is a pathologist and cytopathologist currently doing the PhD program of Molecular Pathology and Genetics at University of Porto, Portugal. She received her medical degree from Trakya Medical University in Edirne, Turkey. During the medical faculty education, she was visiting intern in Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich-Germany. This was followed by residency in surgical pathology and fellowship in Cytopathology. She spent 4 years as an assistant professor in the department of Pathology in Acibadem University. She has authored 65 peer reviewed publications in leading pathology and cytopathology journals, and five book chapters; she has delivered numerous lectures, workshops and short courses in international meetings including ICC (International Academy of Cytology Congress), ECC (European Cytology Congress), AOTA (Asia and Oceania Thyroid Association), Porto Cancer meeting. She is dedicated to cytopathology and pathology of thyroid and cytopathology of lung. She had periods of observership in the University of Pennsylvania Cytopathology department in 2012 and 2013.

She is a member of a research group “Cancer signalling and metabolism” in, Porto, Portugal, mainly focused on “The genetic basis and phenotypic variation of oncocytic tumours in Thyroid” and continue to work on her thesis project “Diabetes mellitus and oncocytic tumours of thyroid: the mitochondrial connection” that had granted by the national foundation of science and technology (SFRH/BD/147650/2019).
