Ana Isabel Fernandes

Ana Isabel Fernandes obtained a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Aveiro and a master's degree in Biochemistry at the University of Porto and is currently working towards her PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of Porto. During her master's, she investigated the host immune response to the pathogen Mycobacterium tuberculosis. For this, Ana Isabel Fernandes stayed in two different laboratories: in the Immune Regulation Group, at i3S, Portugal; and in the laboratory for Innate Immunity and Inflammation, at the FLI, Germany. Ana Isabel Fernandes was awarded an Erasmus+ grant that allowed her to divide her time between Portugal and Germany. She later was also awarded a European Federation of Immunological Societies (EFIS)-Immunology Letters (IL) Short-term Fellowship, to continue her research at the FLI. Ana Isabel Fernandes has also presented her studies in poster format and co-authored two papers, now published in Mucosal Immunology and Nature Communications.
