Joana Galante holds a BSc in Microbiology (2013) and a MSc in Applied Microbiology (2018) both from Universidade Católica Portuguesa - Porto. During her BSc, she did and Erasmus internship, at University College London (UK), where she worked with Streptococcus pneumoniae and several molecular biology techniques. From 2015 to 2017 Joana worked in R&D at a microalgal biotechnology company, in Lisbon, gaining experience in microalgal cultivation and biotechnology and in 2018 she held a research grant at Universidade Católica Portuguesa - Porto, in the department of Prof. Ana Gomes. Currently, Joana is doing a PhD at INEB, under the supervision of Dr. José das Neves and co-supervision of Prof. Bruno Sarmento.
Her current interests include biotechnology, microbiology, nanomedicine, peptide drugs, antifungals, Candida sp. and vaginal drug-delivery.
