Francisco Camões Magalhães is a scientist at the Vertebrate Development and Regeneration Group, at i3S. He is currently working on applying Deep Learning techniques to study the impact of non-coding DNA variants on gene regulation, and their contributions to disease, with a special focus on type-2 diabetes.
Francisco holds a BSc and a MSc in Bioengineering, with specialization in Biomedical Engineering, from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. His research integrates the fields of genetics, statistics and deep learning in a multidisciplinary environment.
