Vânia Rocha
PhD Student

Vânia Rocha is graduated in Biochemistry by University of Coimbra (2022) and holds a master’s degree in Biomaterials and Nanomedicine from NOVA School of Science and Technology, NOVA University Lisbon (2024). During her bachelor's degree, she worked on a research project focused on the synthesis of biopolymer aerogels combined with silver nanoparticles under the supervision of Dr Mara Braga. Her master's dissertation was carried out at i3S (Porto, Portugal) under the supervision of Dr. José das Neves and her research focused on the development of an antifungal peptide functionalized nanoparticles for the management of candidiasis. After completing her master’s degree, Vânia worked on a research project, focused on the development of lipid nanoparticles as potential drug delivery systems and their interactions with cells of the central nervous system. Currently, Vânia is a PhD student in the International Doctoral Programme in Molecular and Cellular Biotechnology applied to Health Sciences (BiotechHealth) at Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar, University of Porto (ICBAS-UP), where her research centres on the development of self-propelled anisotropic nanoparticles for the management of Pseudomonas aeruginosa lung infections in cystic fibrosis patients.
