Research fellow

Vânia Rocha is graduated in Biochemistry by University of Coimbra (2022) and holds a master’s degree in Biomaterials and Nanomedicine from NOVA School of Science and Technology, NOVA University Lisbon (2024). During her bachelor's degree, she worked on a research project focused on the synthesis of biopolymer aerogels combined with silver nanoparticles under the supervision of Dr Mara Braga. Her master's dissertation was carried out at i3S (Porto, Portugal) under the supervision of Dr. José das Neves and co-supervision of Prof. Carlos Lodeiro. Her research focused on the development of an antifungal peptide functionalized nanoparticles for the management of candidiasis, where she improved her knowledge in the fields of nanotechnology and microbiology, with emphasis on nanomedicine, mycology and antimicrobial peptides.

Vânia is now working on a project in the Nanomedicines & Translational Drug Delivery group (at i3S). The project is related to the development of LNPs as potential drug delivery systems and their interactions with target cells of the central nervous system, using in vitro and ex vivo models.
