Adriana Leonor Lima

Adriana Lima holds a Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering, with a specialization in Molecular Bioengineering, from the Faculty of Engineering & the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar of the University of Porto. During her Bachelor’s, she had the opportunity to perform her Capstone Project in the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto, where she studied active targeting strategies for the delivery of lipid-based nanoparticles to macrophages, under the supervision of Dr Andreia Granja and Dr Salette Reis. 

She is currently in the 2nd year of her Master’s degree in Bioengineering and is developing what will be her Master Thesis work under the guidance of Dr José das Neves and Dr Bruno Sarmento. Her research project is being carried out in the Nanomedicines & Translational Drug Delivery group, in the Institute for Research and Innovation in Health (i3S) and is focused on the development of an in vitro model of vulvovaginal candidiasis for efficacy assessment of antifungal compounds and nano-based drug delivery systems.
