Where Ideas Grow
Jorge Ripoll Rozada
Collaborator
Dr Jorge Ripoll graduated from the University of A Coruña (Spain) with a Bachelor of Biology degree in 2006. After that, he joined as a predoctoral student to the Molecular Motors Group at the IBBTEC (Santander, Spain) where he received his PhD in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine from the University of Cantabria in 2013. His PhD was focused on the enzymatic and functional regulation of a traffic ATPase belonging to the Type IV Secretion System. Since February of 2014, Jorge is a postdoctoral researcher to the Biomolecular Structure group at the IBMC (Porto, Portugal). His current research focusses on protein structure and function of potential drug targets from mycobacterial human pathogens. He is also interested in the molecular details of specific coagulation factor IIa recognition and inhibition by natural macromolecular anticoagulants from haematophagous parasites.
