Introduction to information design for life sciences: a practical guide – 3rd Edition

5, 7, 14, 19 and 23 February 2024 | 14:00-17:00

i3S – Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde

Information design is the practice of transforming data and storytelling into a visual representation, clear, accurate, meaningful, engaging and easily absorbed. It is the application of processes and practices of design to communicate information.
The ability to visualize and communicate information evolved alongside science itself. Nowadays, in an era of massive amounts of data and extremely complex processes, the application of information design in science is more urgent and challenging.
The courses include theoretical modules to provide the participants with basic skills in visual literacy, and practical sessions in which participants will develop their own project, with tutorial support.
Participation in this course requires the availability to develop individual work between mentored sessions. Individual projects will be developed by the participants with tutor-oriented feedback.

Target audience:  All scientific community interested in the subject

Course duration: 15 hours

Requirements: Participants must bring an idea to create an infographic and a personal computer.

Certificate: requires 80% of course attendance and the submission and presentation of the final project.
