The Neural Cell Biology (NCBio) Stakeholder Hub

We are very excited about the kick-off meeting of The Neural Cell Biology (NCBio) Stakeholder Hub that will take place next 20th June 2023 at the i3S.
As part of the NCBio project, we are committed to bridging clinical and patient needs by bringing patient organizations, hospitals, the pharma industry, and policy-makers together in one place. This is why we created the NCBio Stakeholder Hub, which is a multidisciplinary and dynamic knowledge club that aims to improve patient care by bridging clinical and patient needs with fundamental and translational research. To this end, we have secured more than 15 Portuguese and international stakeholders (including clinics, patient organizations, industry, and policy-makers) to join us onboard this ambitious project.
In Session I “Research and Clinics”, we will have a glimpse of the research performed at the i3S and hear about success stories in translational research between the i3S and the clinic. This will be followed by a round table where we ask the patient associations what they want from research and what they feel has been missed in the field of neurologic and neurodegenerative diseases.
In Session II “Towards Innovation and Entrepreneurship”, we ask about funding opportunities that promote translational research and how to take the next step into business development and venture capital. We end the day with another round table where we ask what the pharma industry needs to see in academic research to get involved and how can we promote cross-innovation in the topic of neurodegenerative disorders and translational research, as part of the Portuguese Strategy for Smart Specialization.
