i3S Webinar: Responsible Conduct in Research: what can you do from your place?
12th October, 11 am - 12.30 am

This webinar will be with Nicole Foeger (Managing Director of the Austrian Agency for Research Integrity), Ana Sofia Carvalho and Joana Araújo (Instituto de Bioética, Universidade Católica Portuguesa), Anna Olsson (IBMC-i3S) and will be moderated by Susana Magalhães (Unit For Responsible Conduct in Research, i3S).

Why do Research Integrity and Ethics matter? Research integrity and ethical behaviour lie at the heart of excellent science and scholarship. Researchers must be able to trust and build on the work of others. They must also be trusted by society since they provide knowledge and scientific expertise. Responsible and evidence-based research is indispensable to ensure the reliability of research results. Enhanced research integrity policies can significantly contribute to a well-functioning research environment." (https://www.scienceeurope.org/our-priorities/research-integrity-and-ethics/)

Responsible research requires more than being aware of rules and guidelines. It requires reflecting, choosing among alternative paths, making decisions and being committed to acting responsibly. This webinar provides you with the opportunity to get input for your own decisions as responsible researchers, with a special focus on the current global situation of responsible research and research misconduct; on procedures for reporting research misconduct; on authorship and supervision.
