José Mendes began his professional career at Banco Santander and in 2012 joined the Administrative and Financial Department of IBMC.

He is currently responsible for i3S Planning and Management Control, working in close collaboration with Financial Management and promoting the liason between the different Management areas.

Graduated in Economics (FEP), Master in Innovation Economics and Management (FEP) and with a Postgraduate degree in Finance and Management Control (Católica PBS) and in Science and Technology Management and Policies (NOVA FCSH), he is also PhD candidate in Governance, Knowledge and Innovation at the University of Coimbra/CES developing a thesis on ​​science and innovation policies.
