Maria Rui de Vilar Correia is M.Sc. in Education and PhD in Didactics/Teachers Training. She was Assistant Professor at the Botany Department of the Faculty of Sciences of the U.Porto (1981-2003) with a vast experience in teachers training and in producing learning materials and activities for university students and secondary schools. She has been involved in a project about "Sexuality, Gender and Videogames". She was member of the science in society projects, namely the "Evaluating the state of public knowledge on health and health information in Portugal" ? Harvard Medical School, Portugal, and, currently, of the EU project NERRI, Neuro-enhancemente: Responsible research and Innovation (FP7). She has long experience on qualitative methodologies and studies. As an active member of the Associate Laboratory IBMC.INEB, she has been developing Science Communication activities such as the Darwin2009.pt project, among other that include high school projects and the organization of public events to establish a closer link between science and society.
