Where Ideas Grow
Eva Carvalho
PhD Student

Eva Carvalho obtained her MSc degree in Bioengineering in 2016 (University of Porto). During her master thesis, Eva worked on the development of in vitro tissue engineered platforms to understand interactions between glial cells in the context of demyelinating diseases. After concluding her master thesis, Eva undertook a five-month internship at University of Cambridge to better understand the biology of oligodendrocytes and myelination processes. Currently, Eva is doing her PhD under the supervision of Dr. Ana Paula Pêgo and collaboration with Dr. Stefano Pluchino from the University of Cambridge. Her major goals rely on understanding how mechanical properties affect the course of oligodendrocyte differentiation in the context of a demyelination scenario.
