Ana Rita Gomes
PhD Student

I majored in Bioengineering (Molecular Biotechnology) from Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto in 2017. During my degree I have been a volunteer trainee at IBMC and enrolled an Erasmus+ Internship programme at Blizard Institute, Queen Mary University London, working on white matter injury. In 2017 I developed my master thesis in Bioengineered Surfaces group at INEB/i3S under the orientation of Inês C. Gonçalves, where I developed antimicrobial silicones for use in catheters.

I have joined the Stem Cells in Regenerative Biology and Repair group as an MSc research fellow in 2018 under the supervision of Diana S. Nascimento to develop research on myocardial infarction and neonatal cardiac regeneration. I will now be studying the role of the cardiac fibroblast in regenerative hearts as a PhD student under the supervision of Diana Nascimento and co-supervision of Elsa Logarinho.
