Leonor David

Leonor David is MD, pathologist, and Full Professor of Pathology at the Medical Faculty of Porto. She got a degree in Medicine and the PhD at the Medical Faculty of Porto, in 1979 and 1993, respectively. She did part of her PhD and pos-doc at the Radium Hospital in Oslo, and at the University of Copenhagen. Her main contributions are on identification of mucins and mucin glycosylation as differentiation biomarkers relevant for diagnosis and prognostic evaluation in cancer. Leonor David was PI in 10 projects, funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology and by Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and participated in 3 EU projects, the last at the EU 7th Framework program, leaded by Joyce Taylor-Papadimitriou (King?s College, London). She is currently PI of two projects, one funded by FCT. All projects were related to mucins and mucin glycosylation as cancer biomarkers. Leonor supervised 13 finished PhD thesis and is currently supervising one PhD student, participated in the organizing committee of several international meetings, published over 100 papers in journals with peer-review (H index 30 ? >3.400 citations, 7 papers over 100 citations), has written 5 book chapters, is member of the Council of the European Association for Cancer Research, president of the Portuguese Association for Cancer Research (ASPIC) and acts regularly as Reviewer for several Journals in the fields of cancer, gastroenterology and mucin glycobiology.
