In December 2016, I finished the Integrated Master in Biomedical Engineering with specialization in Clinical Engineering at Universidade do Minho. During my graduation I performed a curricular internship in the 3B?s Research Institute, Portugal, where I integrated a project regarding the development of alginate and chitosan membranes for cardiovascular applications. In the last year of my Master, I spent an Erasmus term of five months at the KU Leuven in Belgium, where I did the practical research for my thesis. The main goal of my master dissertation was to understand and evaluate the potential of L-arginine to act as a prebiotic and prevent or treat periodontitis. In addition, I had the chance to perform a curricular internship in Hospital de Braga, Portugal, where my main responsibilities were to analyze and solve adverse events related with clinical safety and to develop several projects regarding a new philosophy entitled ?Patients for patient safety? and drug safety. The goal I am now aiming for is to exceed my passion for research and be able to discover new and important things that can bring major value to the medical field.
