I have a degree in Biology since 2007 from the University of Madeira and a MSc in Biomedical Science since 2012 from the University of the Azores. I had several research grants integrated in projects funded by FCT:"Speciation in Drouetia - evidence of punctuated equilibrium" (PTDC/BIA-BDE/73467/2006), "Microalgal biodiversity under a molecular view: for a better understanding of the Biogeography of the North Atlantic MACROBIOMOL" (PTDC/MAR/114613/2009) and "European Spinocerebellar Ataxia type 3/ Machado-Joseph disease Iniciative" (JPCOFUND/0002/2015). Currently, I am doing a PhD integrated in the Doctoral programme in Biology from the University of the Azores, entitle "Tracking Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 3 (SCA3): identification of prodromal and early disease molecular biomarkers."
