Ana Filipa Castro graduated in Biology from Faculty of Sciences of University of Porto (FCUP) in 2016. Then, she pursued her studies in FCUP, completing her Master's degree in Cell and Molecular Biology in 2018. Her master dissertation project focused on understanding the pathogenic pathways associated with the ATTTC repeat insertion in DAB1 causing spinocerebellar ataxia type 37 (SCA37). Currently, as a reserach fellow in the laboratory of Dr Isabel Silveira at i3S, she is studying the role of regulatory elements in SCA37 locus to understand the relevance of antisense repeat expression in SCA37 pathology, aimimg to develop a therapy for the disease.
