Tiago Ribeiro
PhD Student

Tiago Ribeiro completed his bachelor's in Biochemistry in 2016 at the University of Minho, with a final score of 16/20. In 2018, he obtained Master´s degree in Health Sciences (18/20) at ICVS under the supervision of Drs. Rute Moura and Paula Sampaio. His training focused in developmental biology and immunological techniques and his thesis was entitled: “The impact of E-cigarette aerosols in lung development”.

In 2019 joined Dr. Tiago Dantas’ team, to study cytoplasmatic Dynein-1 regulation mechanisms. Since then, Tiago also had the chance to contribute to the study of a poorly understood ciliary component in Caenorhabditis elegans. This collaboration lead to a research paper entitled: “The IFT20 homolog in Caenorhabditis elegans is required for ciliogenesis and cilia-mediated behavior” (DOI: 10.17912/micropub.biology.000396).

In October 2021, Tiago was awarded a fellowship by FCT (2021.04761.BD) to started his PhD in the Biomedical Sciences program (https://sigarra.up.pt/icbas/en/CUR_GERAL.CUR_VIEW?pv_curso_id=1297) under the supervision of Dr. Tiago Dantas, Dr. Reto Gassmann, and Dra. Carla Abreu. Tiago currently focuses on the roles of NDE1 and LIS1 in neurodevelopment and Dynein-1 function.
