Mariana Silveira
Associate Professor

Mariana S Silveira holds a degree in Microbiology and Immunology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1997) and a PhD in Biological Sciences (Biophysics) from (2002). She is currently an Adjunct Professor the Institute of Biophysics Carlos Chagas Filho of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and she is the leader of the Cell Neurobiology Research Group applied to Neurogenesis and her research group integrates the Neurogenesis Laboratory of the Neurobiology Program. She has experience in the field of Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology, with emphasis on the development of the Nervous System, acting mainly on the following themes: cellular signaling, neuroprotection, control of cellular proliferation in the development of the nervous system, cellular reprogramming and the action of extracellular signaling molecules, especially neuropeptides.

She just joined Dr João Relvas group at I3S (2019).
