João Pissarra graduated in Biology at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto in 2016 and completed a master's in Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution at CIBIO in 2018. He has been working at i3S since 2019 when he joined the Bioengineering & Synthetic Microbiology group to work on the project entitled “Green rehabilitation system for burned soils based on the inoculation of native cyanobacteria and microalgae”. Currently, João is a PhD student of the doctoral program in Molecular and Cell Biology (ICBAS) researching the biosynthesis and applications of cyanobacterial extracellular polymeric substances.
