Since August 2019, Catarina Moniz Alves Neves is coordinating the International Programmes at the Research and Innovation Unit of i3S - Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde.

Catarina graduated in Applied Biology from the University of Minho (Portugal) in 2001 and completed her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering (2008), as a result of studies carried out at the University of Minho (Portugal), University of Liverpool (UK) and at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (TX, USA). 

From 2009 to 2011, Catarina carried out post-doctoral studies at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University (MA, USA). 

From 2016 to 2019, Catarina Moniz Alves Neves worked as a Research Manager at CINTESIS, especially focused on scientific and international funding sources.

In 2017 she concluded the Postgraduate Course in Project Management at EGP-Porto Business School and, in August 2018, she got certified as Project Management Professional (PMP®) by the Project Management Institute (PMI).

In 2023, she concluded her MBA at Porto Business School (final project in entrepreneurship).

She authored or co-authored 17 international peer-reviewed publications, 7 book chapters, 7 papers from international conferences published in scientific journals, and delivered over 50 oral and poster presentations. Also, Catarina has experience as an independent external expert for ANI, COST, and EUREKA/Eurostars.
