Susana Magalhães is the Head of the Unit for Responsible Conduct in Research at the Institute for Research and Innovation in Health of the University of Porto (i3S), PhD in Bioethics by Portuguese Catholic University with a dissertation intitled "Bioethics and Literature: between Imagination and Responsibility” (If-Press, 2016), and a researcher in the areas of Narrative Medicine and Research Ethics & Integrity. 

She is a Lecturer at University Fernando Pessoa and an invited Lecturer at Portuguese Catholic University, where she has been the Scientific Coordinator of the Narrative Medicine Course between 2017 and 2021. 

She has been participating as a lecturer in Research Ethics/Integrity Modules in two doctoral programs since 2020: the Doctoral Program in Molecular and Cell Biology (MCbiology), jointly organized by the Institute for Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar (ICBAS), The Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP) and the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IBMC-UP); and the International Doctoral Programme in Molecular and Cellular Biotechnology Applied to Health Sciences (BiotechHealth), jointly organized by University of Porto (UPorto), the Institute for Research and Innovation in Health of the University of Porto (i3S), the Network of Chemistry and Technology (REQUIMTE) and the Hospital Centre of Porto (CHP). 

She is a Certified Virt2UETrainer and she has been coordinating the Group of Study and Reflection on Narrative Medicine (Grupo de Estudos e Reflexão em Medicina Narrativa -- GERMEN) since February 2018.
