Diogo S. Castro holds a PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology by the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm (2001), where he worked under the supervision of Thomas Perlmann. He joined the laboratory of François Guillemot as postdoctoral researcher, initially at the Institute de Génétique et de Biologie Moléculaire et Cellulaire (IGBMC) in Strasbourg, and later at the MRC - National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) in London. His research interests stand at cross roads between Neurosciences, Developmental Biology and Gene Regulation. He established his own research group at Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (IGC) in 2011. Since 2020 he heads the Stem Cells & Neurogenesis laboratory at IBMC/i3S.
