Tony Rodrigues graduated in Biochemistry by the University of Porto. In 2007, he joined the Organelle Biogenesis and Function group-IBMC to obtain his Masters degree in Biochemistry. In 2014, he completed his PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas de Abel Salazar (ICBAS), University of Porto with work pertaining to the PEX5/PEX7-mediated import of PTS2-containing proteins to peroxisomes. He is currently a post-doc continuing his research on the peroxisome import machinery.
