Olga Sin holds a B.Sc. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from NOVA University of Lisbon, an M.Sc. in Neuroscience from the University of Lisbon, and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Groningen (The Netherlands), completed in co-tutorship with the (now discontinued) GABBA doctoral program at the University of Porto.
Following her doctoral studies, she was awarded both the Dutch Rubicon Postdoctoral Fellowship and a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship, which supported her postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine (Germany) and the University of Bern (Switzerland).
In 2022, Olga Sin transitioned into research management and currently serves as Project Manager of the Neural Cell Biology (NCBio) ERA Chair. In this role, she acts as the primary liaison between the European Commission and the NCBio project, overseeing post-award project implementation and ensuring the timely delivery of project milestones. She also supports the ERA Chair Holder in pre-award activities, including the identification, preparation, and submission of competitive grant applications.
Additionally, Olga Sin coordinates internal and external capacity-building initiatives, including the organization of the first EMBO Workshop on Astrocytes. She is responsible for fostering collaborations with clinicians, pharmaceutical companies, and patient associations, promoting academic–industrial partnerships through the NCBio Stakeholder Hub.
Finally, Olga Sin frequently collaborates with the i3S Communications Unit to develop and deliver educational and outreach activities for audiences of all ages.
