Parizad is an animal welfare researcher with a background in architecture and communications. She is currently working on a project assessing the behaviour and welfare of shelter dogs participating in a prison-based training programme in Portugal. Her research interests include behaviour, cognition, and welfare in cats and dogs; shelter animal welfare and adoptability enhancement; welfare of free-ranging dogs and cats; and the design of enclosures to maximise the welfare of the animals they house.
