Palmira Barreira-Silva has a BSc and a MSc in Biology from U. Porto (Portugal), and a PhD in Health Sciences from U. Minho (Portugal) since 2016. She developed her PhD project on the immune response to mycobacterial infections, with Margarida Correia-Neves (ICVS, Portugal), Rui Appelberg (IBMC, Portugal) and Sam M. Behar (U.Mass Medical School, USA). Since 2022, Palmira is working as Junior Researcher at IBMC/i3S (Portugal) with Pedro Moura-Alves. Palmira focused her studies in host-pathogen interactions and worked with pre-clinical models of mycobacterial infections, and with samples from individuals infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, HIV or SARS-CoV-2 under BSL2 and BSL3 lab conditions.
