Where Ideas Grow
Eduardo Veríssimo
PhD Student

Eduardo Veríssimo is a PhD student in the Nerve Regeneration group, under the supervision of Doctor Mónica Sousa. He has completed his BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Porto, Portugal in 2019, and his MSc in Neurobiology at the same university in 2021.

Currently, he is pursuing his PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS) from the University of Porto. His research is focused on defining neuronal-intrinsic factors that sustain Acomys axon regeneration after spinal cord injury (SCI). His PhD project aims to provide in vivo proof-of-concept that modifying Mus neurons in an Acomys-like manner enables regeneration-competence, paving the way for the design of novel therapeutic options for SCI patients.
