Ana Magalhães
Associate Professor
Ana Magalhães is Auxiliary Researcher (FCT Investigator Starting grant, call 2014) at I3s. She has a PhD in Biomedical Sciences NeuroEthology (Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar -ICBAS-UP) and a master degree in Ethology (Instituto Superior de Psicologia Aplicada, ISPA-UL). Since 2006 she was a post-doctoral researcher at the Institute for Molecular and Cell Biology (IBMC) and was responsible for setting up an animal facility for behavioural studies. Her research activities are mostly focused on behavioural approaches applied to the study of neurotoxic events and neurodegenerative disorders. Recently, she became interested in understanding how behavioural and environmental modulation may concur to modify the development of the adolescent brain and reduce vulnerability to drug use. Ana is devoted to ethological research since 1996 and has an extensive experience that encloses studies in fish, dolphins, dogs, cats and rodents.
